Two-storey conversion in the Roundhay conservation area, North Leeds

Our roles - Design | Planning | Construction | Project management

modern living room with hidden tv and wood burning stove

Our clients wanted to extend their detached home with a two-storey rear extension and a loft conversion. The planning process was carried out over covid lockdowns and involved a lot of debate with the local planning authority - we worked hard to balance the conservation team’s requirements with our client’s design requests.

This was a challenging build - the rear extension needed to be piled due to the existing basement and the extension's proximity to substantial trees. Our clients knew to expect this work as we’d identified the need for pilings during surveys at the concept stage. The loft conversion work required the construction team to remove the roof. This was tented so that the work could continue over the winter.

The completed build has transformed this home, flooding the interior with light and complementing the fantastic work carried out by the client’s interior designers - The House Collective.
