West Hill Avenue

Conservation Area Extension & Full Refurbishment

Our roles - Design | Planning | Construction | Project management

We were recommended for this project following a planning refusal experienced by our clients' adjoining neighbours, who had initially engaged with an architectural designer. Situated in a conservation area, the property held significant character, making it essential to approach the project with both sensitivity and a deep understanding of heritage considerations.

Taking on the project after the refusal, our team—comprising RIBA and ARB accredited architects—successfully secured approval for a large extension, not only for our client but also for their neighbouring property. This achievement underscores our ability to navigate the complexities of conservation area planning requirements while ensuring both properties met modern living standards.

In addition to the approved extension, the house underwent a comprehensive refurbishment. This included the installation of underfloor heating throughout the ground floor to enhance comfort, along with the integration of a cutting-edge home automation system. As part of the transformation, a new music room was added, designed to meet the clients' specific needs and providing a dedicated space for creative and recreational activities. This same home automation system can be seen at our ‘shoffice’ in Harrogate.
