A substantial two-storey extension and internal renovation for a family home bordering greenbelt land
Our roles - Design | Planning | Construction | Project management
Our returning clients briefed Grace & Morris to overhaul their home by adding a generous two-storey extension and transforming their downstairs living space. The property’s position on the edge of greenbelt land – the garden is classified as greenbelt, although the house is not – added additional complexity.
The new extension created a garage, double-height hallway and a multi-functional first-floor studio equipped with its own bathroom, kitchen and balcony overlooking picturesque greenbelt countryside.
The clients wanted their remodelled ground floor to replace dark, awkward spaces with an open, inviting environment. The new broken-plan living area includes a sleek, light-filled kitchen and dining space with a dedicated living area separated by a custom-built bookshelf. A new pantry, utility room, boot room with dog shower, WC and office space with a dedicated art space for the children complete the transformation.
Our clients agreed with our suggestion of moving the staircase - this opened up the ground floor and allowed for far greater flexibility.
“They provided a design we had not thought of and we couldn't be happier with the end results. They (and the builders they worked with) made the process of living through a major build as easy and smooth as possible for us. We love our house and would definitely recommend you to anyone doing similar.”
